Sony Pictures’ final installment in their symbiote trilogy will hit theaters this October, featuring Tom Hardy back as Eddie Brock/Venom with Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) and Chiwetel Ejifor completing their casts.

The Last Dance will examine how Brock was thrust back into the MCU during Let There Be Carnage and exited again through Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Directed by Kelly Marcel

Venom: The Last Dance is the third installment of Sony Marvel’s Venom franchise and directed by Kelly Marcel. Starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and set for release on October 25, 2024, this movie will wrap up this trilogy and tie any loose ends left from previous movies.

Ruben Fleischer’s first Venom movie was both critically and financially successful, grossing over $856.1 million worldwide. While its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, made less money but still performed well at the box office, Sony appears set to continue this franchise with more films featuring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom.

Venom: The Last Dance doesn’t offer many plot details, but it seems likely to feature an epic showdown between Venom and his latest foe – Anti-Venom – and Venom himself. Anti-Venom’s trailer teases his healing capabilities as well as being strong against sound and fire-based weapons; thus leading up to either an epic battle between them both or perhaps an unlikely alliance of some sort between the two characters.

Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock/Venom, with Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor joining the cast in unknown capacities. Kelly Marcel wrote both screenplays for previous Venom movies; Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce this one as well.

Starring Tom Hardy

After two successful outings, the Venom movie franchise appears set to reach an endpoint with its third installment. Plot details remain unknown at this point, but Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom seem likely to return for one last fight with an unfamiliar foe; Carnage may have been defeated in 2021 but Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady could potentially return or find new hosts for future encounters with Venom.

Anti-Venom is another potential adversary to Venom and his allies in comics and other media, possessing inverted colors with healing capabilities and resisting sound- and fire-based weaponry, giving it an advantage against him in battle or alliance.

Spider-Man could also make an appearance in Venom 3, as his popularity and superhero obsession have long been at the core of Sony’s Marvel Universe subfranchise. Although unlikely, an appearance by Peter Parker wouldn’t necessarily add much drama or tension to Venom 3; regardless, Hardy as Brock and Venom in their final film together is always exciting! Additional cast members for Venom 3 include Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Clark Backo.

Release date

Sony Pictures Entertainment announced on Wednesday, October 17 that the third and final installment in their standalone Venom trilogy would hit theaters Friday, October 25. Written and directed by Kelly Marcel who also wrote both previous Venom films (Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Venom: Rise Of Carnage), Kelly Marcel is writing and directing this latest one as well.

Tom Hardy returns as gruff reporter Eddie Brock and alien symbiote Venom in this sequel of the franchise. Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor will also reprise their roles, though specifics on them remain unknown at this time. Additionally, Anti-Venom, a brand new alien symbiote promises to add an unexpected dimension to the storyline. The latest trailer introduces it for your viewing pleasure!

Unfortunately, there remain numerous unanswered questions, such as the method by which Carnage will make his comeback into the host body. While Carnage appeared dead at the end of the previous movie, symbiotes are known to be hardy creatures that can resurface at any point with a new host.

As Venom shares an inextricable link with Spider-Man, his potential appearance could prove exciting for fans. While unlikely that Spider-Man and Venom clash directly, his presence will bring excitement for Marvel Universe viewers. Unfortunately, Wicked and Moana 2 may pose competition during its release window, making audience identification harder; but hopefully their absence should help this movie find an audience faster.

Plot

Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote will finally face off against their true polar opposite in Venom: The Last Dance, according to a concept trailer for its third installment. While no official announcement has been made as to who will play Anti-Venom, speculation suggests he could make an excellent adversary against sound and fire-based weaponry, making for a compelling opponent against whom our iconic duo may eventually turn their weapons.

Venom 2 will pick up after the events in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, with Cletus Kassidy still in contact with Brock but now more at risk from Venom’s uncontrolled behavior in Mexico and seeking to kill Detective Patrick Mulligan as it seeks out Frances Berrison whom Venom rescues.

Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock for Sony’s final installment of its highly successful Venom franchise. While its initial movie was an instantaneous hit in 2018, and its 2021 sequel also did well at the box office, Sony is ready to move on after three movies have come and gone.
